Meet Roberto, the Sleepy Pepperoni
A playful bedtime story for kids ages 4–6.
Set in the magical Al’s Pizzeria, it follows Roberto the Pepperoni, who’s so excited to lead the toppings team that he skips sleep—leading to some hilarious pizza chaos! Through his misadventures, Roberto learns the importance of sleep, a lesson every busy parent can appreciate.... because when their child sleeps, the parent can get some sleep.
Meet Mitchell Cogert:
Mitchell Cogert is a first time Children's Book Author whose goal is to help kids learn important lessons through story time. Mitchell has had the privilege of appearing on morning shows like KOLO 8 New Now and Fox News 4 to share the story of Roberto and the Power of Sleep!
"I was inspired to write children’s books when I was in high school and read children’s books to my younger sister at bedtime - she was about 4 or 5 years old. She enjoyed the books so much and we had so many laughs, I realized that it would be truly great to be able to write kids' books like that and have children smile and laugh. It was also a great bonding experience! I even dedicated the book to her."
Now - I must say this book is such a fun read! The book is beautifully illustrated, bringing the Pizza-World to life with vibrant colors and playful characters that encourage healthy sleeping habits. Roberto learns the importance of rest through light and humorous consequences of his sleeplessness, making it a fun and easy read for both children and adults. The message is clear without being overly preachy, it's just enough that when I was reading it to my 5-year-old she was rooting for Roberto to "just take a nap already". She went as far to even compare it to her younger sister getting cranky when she doesn't get her nap in. The story of Roberto has made bedtime fun again, let's wash up, get some rest and wake up ready to take on the day! Making sleep the superhero in this fun bedtime story is genius.
If you're looking for more reasons to read the story, look no further. Mitchell has dedicated his time to make sure his books provide guidance to young children to help them grow healthy habits and good morals by adding prompts at the end of the story so parents can continue the conversation on why is sleep so important and keep their kids engaged in a fun and playful manner. These stories are also tied to National Food Holidays! So, the book is also a celebration with fun activities added to the end of the story tying it to the Holiday!
