Looking for a way to get your kids outdoors right here in the heart of Sparks, Nevada?
The Sparks Marina has a little bit of everything for an afternoon of adventure. My little family goes down and rides our bikes around the lake at least once a week, and we have a blast every time!
Here are some of the attractions and activities to be found at the Sparks Marina:
THE WALKING/BIKING PATH
- Walk or bike the 2-mile path that surrounds the lake!
- Dogs are welcome, and must be on a leash at all times (except for inside the Dog Park.) They are prohibited in swimming areas.
- The path leads to all other activities and attractions mentioned in this article.
WATER SPORTS
- The 77-acre lake offers the ability to canoe, kayak or paddleboard.
- The boat launch is located at the west end.
- There are private docks on the northeast end.
- You may also choose to pull into the back parking lot on the southwest end and carry your watercraft down to the water.
- During warmer months, enjoy the north-end swimming beach. NOTE: Swimming is only on the north beach and only allowed during the summer months - weather permitting - when there is a lifeguard on duty.
- There is a fishing pier located at the southwest end of the marina.
OTHER SPORTS AND PLAY
- There is a playground (currently under construction as of 2/22/2022) located by the northwestern corner of the lake.
- On the beach there are two volleyball pits and a long stretch that is perfect for tossing a football!
- There are two beaches, one on the north end and one on the south.
- There is a dog park located at the southeast end of the marina.
SHOPPING/DINING
- Head over to the Legends at Sparks Marina shopping center where you'll find all the best names in retail and plenty of entertainment.
- The Legends shopping center is also home to several fabulous restaurants, delis, a specialty candy & soda shop, a bar, and a brewery.
